A Quick New Hampshire Weekend

We decided to drive up for a weekend in New Hampshire at the beginning of October, based solely on the rave review of a friend and colleague of ours, who had just done the same and thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Our destination was in the White Mountains region – Laconia, to be precise. The lakeside Naswa Resort, to be even more exact.

It took us just about 5hrs (with a few stops along the way) and about 3/4 of a tank of gas in our SUV to get from home in New York to our destination in NH, so that was pretty good.

We liked the hotel, with the ultra attentive, accommodating, and professional staff. Our room was nice, although we would’ve liked a firmer mattress and a ‘smart’er TV, perhaps. Meals were wonderful – carefully prepared, tasty, and satisfying.

We saw (and hiked) mountains, gorges, waterfalls and lakes. We saw 2 of the 60+ covered bridges that the state is famous for.

We saw Fall foliage aplenty.

We went on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, which, to be honest, was a bit slow, dull, and probably best suited to more senior travellers, and families with younger children. We weren’t too thrilled.

And so, with no further ado, here are the pictures that will give you a glimpse into what New Hampshire’s White Mountains region looks like in the Fall.

Enjoy…
